We had a great turn out today at our December Luncheon which featured Colleen Robbs from Broward County Public Schools.  The presentation was very informative and relayed various information including specific steps on how to become a qualified vendor and minority certified with Broward County Public Schools. Ms. Robbs also provided insider tips on how to anticipate the announcement of upcoming projects and solicitations.

Ms. Robbs is the Coordinator for the Office of Supplier Diversity Outreach Program (SDOP), Procurement and Warehousing Services Department for the School Board of Broward County, Florida (SBBC). She oversees the certification of Small/Minority/Women Business Enterprises (S/M/WBE), community outreach, goal setting, bid evaluation, contract compliance, and reporting. Ms. Robbs focus is to increase availability, build capacity, and grow contract participation by S/M/WBEs in SBBC's procurement and contracting. Through sustainable community outreach and business partnerships, Ms. Robbs seeks to build awareness of the contracting opportunities that are available to the business local community.

Today, we welcomed our new board members for the 2017-2018 year. The theme for the event was "Together We Can Do It!" and the night was filled with inspiring, empowering words from various board members. Mari Lopez of Jackson Health Systems presided over the ceremony while the new board members vowed to lead us through a great and prosperous year.

Aside from the installation of the board, three new members joined our Miami Chapter 41 and one member was presented with a Longevity Award for being with the organization 32 years. It was a great night celebrating with all those who attended and we look forward to an amazing year!
